NYS Public School Teaching Assistant Certification Exam Prep.
This course prepares students for NYS Public School Teaching Assistant Certification Exam held by NYSTCE. Course curriculm is designed in four parts: reading, writing, mathematics, instructional support, including sample test and test review. The course include total 10 sessions, 2.5 hours per session. Value added services include career planning, resume polishing, Mock Interview and job referral.

Career Prospect
All NYS public school full-time teachers and teaching assistants (Paraprofessionals) MUST be certified by the New York State Department of Education in order to be employed. A NYS public school teaching assistant is required to pass the certification examination.
All NYS full-time public school teaching assistants have the same benefits as NYS public school teachers, including three months vacation. Another career opportunity for NYS certified public school teaching assistants is to work in After-School or Daycare Center. According to NYS Law, applicants with two years experience in pre-kindergarten education would be qualified to apply for the license of Family Daycare Centers.
License and Exam Info.
In order to qualify for certification, you must pass the New York State Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills test (NYSATAS) and successfully complete the Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Prevention and Intervention, and Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) workshops. Then you must apply via the State Education Department for State Certification as a Teaching Assistant. All applicants MUST receive at least high school education within the U.S or foreign education before applying for the exam.
The subject for the NYSATAS test includes reading, writing, mathematics, and instructional support. Total 100 questions, computer based, and score 220 minimum to pass the exam.
Class Curriculum
